Canary Visual Sitemap Privacy Policy

Canary Visual Sitemap is a browser extension that crawls websites selected by the user and presents site structure, page information, SEO findings, technical information, links, accessibility signals, reports, and exports.

Canary is designed as a local-first tool.

The extension does not require a Canary account to use its core functionality.

When you choose to crawl a website, Canary may process information available from pages on that website, such as:

• URLs
• Page titles
• Meta descriptions
• HTTP status information
• Canonical URLs
• Heading structure
• Internal links
• External links when enabled
• Robots and indexability signals
• Sitemap information
• Image accessibility information
• Schema and metadata
• Redirect information
• Other technical crawl information needed for the extension's features

This is website crawl data. It is not a profile of you as a user.

Canary may also store extension preferences and crawl state locally in the browser so features such as crawl history, paused crawls, and issue workflow state can work.

• Canary does not require an account for its core features
• Canary does not operate its own analytics service for tracking extension usage
• Canary does not send crawl results to a Canary cloud database
• Canary does not send crawl results to an external AI service
• Canary does not sell user data
• Canary does not sell crawl data
• Canary does not use crawl data for advertising
• Canary does not use crawl data to build advertising profiles

Canary must make network requests to the website you choose to crawl. Those requests are necessary to inspect the selected website and build the visual sitemap and audit.

These requests go to the selected website, or to resources needed to complete the crawl. As with any request from a browser, the website receiving the request can see it in its own server logs and handle it under its own practices.

Canary may save information locally through browser extension storage, such as:

• Selected sites
• Crawl history
• Crawl state
• Paused crawl information
• Settings
• SEO Action Plan workflow status
• Live analysis results
• Other feature state needed by the extension

Uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage may remove locally stored Canary information. Deleted local information cannot be recovered by the extension.

Canary analyzes websites selected by you. Those websites are independent of Canary.

Their own privacy policies, cookies, tracking, authentication, terms, and data practices may apply when you visit or crawl them. This privacy policy does not control third-party websites.

Only crawl websites and pages you are authorized to access.

Before crawling or exporting, consider whether a site contains confidential, private, authenticated, regulated, or sensitive information.

Canary does not provide regulatory compliance or certification of any kind.

Canary can create files such as:

• JSON
• CSV
• Excel
• PDF or printable reports
• Sitemap.xml

These files may contain information collected from the crawled website. Once exported, the file is under your control and may exist outside browser extension storage.

Handle exported files according to the sensitivity of the website data they contain.

Canary is a website development and SEO utility. It is not designed as a service directed specifically to children.
